Packing Tips for Your Hospital Stay
Get ready, get set... Go! When you go into labor it's going to feel like a race to the hospital, so be prepared. Get your bags packed a few weeks before your due date, so when your water breaks your only goal is to get to that hospital and have that baby! Here are the key items you should take to the hospital on your special day.
- Clothes - 2 nightgowns (1) for during labor (1) for after birth, robe for during labor and after and comfy maternity clothes for the ride home. Also bring big underwear for after the birth so you don't have anything tight around your healing tummy.
- Toiletries - Toothbrush, hairbrush, tooth paste, facial cream, make-up if you want to spruce up for visitors, lip moisturizer and cream.
- Labor Items - Massage oils or lotions for partner to put on your skin to ease labor pains. Tennis ball to rub on your back if have back labor.
- Cell Phone and List - Write a list of everyone you want to call when the baby is born and write their phone number on the list. Remember to take your cell phone.
- Materials for Entertainment - Magazines, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, Ipod or a small radio for music for before, during or after birth.
- Items for Breast Feeding - Nursing bra and nursing shirt.
- Money - Bring dollars for vending machine because you or visitors might want a snack or drink.
- Camera or Video Camera - You'll surely want to take pictures of your new baby.
- Snacks for You and Your Partner - You'll definitely get hungry for a snack after all that hard work pushing your baby out. Your partner might need a snack too.
- Stocked Baby Bag - Including: comfy newborn sleeper / nightgown (pre-washed) newborn diapers, receiving blanket (pre-washed), socks and booties for Baby. Make sure to pre-wash all baby clothes in dye-free detergent.
