Top 10 Essential Baby Travel Items

Traveling with your baby can sometimes be a challenge if you're not prepared. Babies are tiny, but their needs are great, so it's important to create your travel checklist and make sure you have everything you need. Here are the essential baby travel items that you should take along if you want your trip to be baby-ready and stress-free.

  1. Car Seat - A safe car seat is top of the list so that your drive, to wherever you're going, is comfy and safe for your baby.
  2. Portable Crib - A portable crib is essential for a good vacation. Make sure you do a trial run at home, letting your baby sleep in the crib before the trip so that your little one feels secure and comfy in her portable sleep space on vacation.
  3. Pacifiers - Bring a stash of pacifiers. Keep some for when out and some for bed time. Make sure you have replacements if your baby drops them on the floor or loses any. It's a good idea to keep several pacifiers in your diaper bag.
  4. Plenty of Formula and Bottles - If your baby is bottle fed, remember to stock up on plenty of bottles and enough formula to last the entire trip.
  5. Baby Toys - Bring a handful of baby toys to keep your wee one entertained while in her stroller, car seat, portable crib or at grandma's house.
  6. Baby Clothes - Make sure to bring extra changes of baby clothes because your little munchkin is sure to make unexpected messes that warrant a clothing change.
  7. Plenty of Diapers and Wipes - By your first trip, you'll probably know your baby's schedule so make sure you have enough diapers and wipes to keep her dry.
  8. Baby Monitor - If you want a little freedom on your trip, make sure to take a baby monitor. This way you can socialize with family or friends in another room while your baby is napping and you'll still be able to hear her when she wakes.
  9. Burp Cloths - Bring enough burp cloths for every feeding. You probably won't have a washer at hand so you'll want to bring enough to keep your shoulder covered at every baby burping moment. This will save you from having to change your clothes over and over again.
  10. Bouncer - Taking a bouncer on trips gives your baby a comfy place to sit and hang out while you are in the hotel room, by the pool or on grandma's back porch. A bouncer will keep your baby happy, making your vacation less stressful.
