Your belly may be getting round, but the rest of you doesn't have to. There are many safe pregnancy exercises that can keep you fit all the way through till your baby is born. Staying fit can make your delivery easier and will help your womanly figure bounce back to its original shape faster after the baby is born. Here are some suggestions.

  1. Light Stretching - If you gently stretch your neck, shoulders, legs and arms on a daily basis you'll keep your body limber and strong throughout your pregnancy.
  2. Swimming - Swimming slow laps in a pool or just splashing around can keep you in shape without putting any extra stress on your joints or body.
  3. Water Aerobics - This is a great exercise for pregnant women. You'll love the buoyancy and being in water will keep you cool during your workout. Plus, your joints and muscles will get a break.
  4. Light Yoga - Doing light yoga moves, along with proper breathing techniques, can prepare your body and mind for the big day. If doing yoga during pregnancy, find a yoga class or video that was designed for pregnant women.
  5. Pilates - These exercises are great during pregnancy because they safely strengthen and tone muscles that you'll use during delivery.
  6. Walking - Sticking with a moderate walking routine, between 3 - 4 times per week, can keep your body strong to handle your physical changes during pregnancy and it can also help you sleep better and keep you healthy during these 9 exciting months.
  7. Low-impact Aerobics - Doing lower impact aerobics, eliminating kicks and jumps from your routine, can keep you in shape during pregnancy and prepare your body for delivery. Low impact moves will also lessen the pressure on your joints. It's best to join a class designed for pregnant women.
  8. Stationary Bike - Using a stationary bike instead of a regular bike will eliminate your chances of falling. It will also support your weight, alleviating stress on your body. This is great for staying fit during your 9 months of baby making.
